Image Metadata Viewer

View complete EXIF metadata of any image — camera model, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, GPS location, and more. Strip metadata for privacy before sharing.

About Image Metadata

Every photo contains hidden data — from the camera settings used to capture it, to the exact GPS coordinates where it was taken. This metadata (called EXIF data) is automatically embedded by cameras and smartphones, but can reveal personal information you may not want to share.

How to Use

  1. Upload or drag-and-drop any image
  2. View all extracted metadata organized by category
  3. Click "Strip Metadata" to remove EXIF data for privacy
  4. Download the clean image or export metadata as JSON

Why Strip Metadata?

  • GPS coordinates can reveal your home address or frequented locations
  • Camera serial numbers can be used to identify you
  • Date/time stamps reveal when photos were taken
  • Software info can reveal your editing workflow

FAQ

What metadata can I see?+

The metadata viewer extracts camera model, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, focal length, GPS coordinates, date taken, software used, copyright info, and more — depending on what's embedded in the image.

Can I strip metadata from an image?+

Yes. Click 'Strip Metadata' to create a clean version of your image without EXIF data. This is useful for privacy — it removes GPS coordinates, camera info, and other personal data before sharing.

Does this upload my image to a server?+

No. All metadata extraction happens entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device.

What image formats support EXIF data?+

EXIF data is most commonly found in JPEG images. PNG, WebP, and GIF images may contain some metadata but typically less than JPEG. HEIC images from iPhones contain rich EXIF data.

Is this tool free?+

Yes, completely free. No sign-up required, no usage limits.

What metadata is in my image?

Upload any image to see its EXIF data: camera model, GPS coordinates, date taken, exposure settings, and more. You can also clear metadata for privacy before sharing.
