Privacy & Data Security

The biggest difference is how each tool handles your files. ImageResizer Studio processes images entirely in your browser using WebAssembly (JSquash). Your files never leave your device — there is no server upload and no data retention.

TinyPNG uploads your files to their servers for compression. While they have a strong privacy policy and delete files after processing, your data is transmitted to a China-based company and temporarily stored on their infrastructure.

Compression Quality

TinyPNG uses smart lossy compression that selectively reduces the number of colors in the image and applies optimized compression algorithms. This produces excellent results for PNG and JPEG files, often achieving 60–80% size reduction with minimal visual quality loss.

ImageResizer Studiouses WebAssembly-based codecs (JSquash) with configurable quality settings. While the compression is solid, TinyPNG's color-reduction approach is specifically tuned for maximum size reduction on PNG and JPEG. ImageResizer Studio counters with quality sliders and target file-size options for more precise control.

Format Support

TinyPNG supports PNG, JPEG, SVG, WebP, and AVIF for compression. However, it is primarily a compression tool — it does not offer resize by dimensions or unit conversion.

ImageResizer Studiosupports JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, and HEIC for resize, crop, and format conversion. It includes HEIC support (Apple's default photo format), which TinyPNG does not handle. If you need AVIF or SVG compression, TinyPNG is the better choice.

Unit Support

ImageResizer Studio supports 5 unit types: pixels (px), percent (%), inches (in), centimeters (cm), and millimeters (mm). This makes it useful for both web design (px and %) and print workflows (in, cm, mm at 300 DPI).

TinyPNG does not offer resize by dimensions at all. It compresses images to reduce file size but does not let you specify a target width, height, or physical dimension. You would need a separate tool to resize first.

Batch Processing

Both tools support batch processing. ImageResizer Studio offers unlimited batch processing — you can resize and compress as many images as your browser can handle.

TinyPNG allows up to 20 images per upload on the free tier (5 MB for PNG, 15 MB for JPEG). Paid plans ($25/year) raise this to 5,000 images per upload with no file size limit.

Pricing

ImageResizer Studio is completely free for all features — resize, crop, compress, convert, and batch process. No account required, no file count limits, no watermarks.

TinyPNG has a free tier with limits (20 images per upload, file size caps). Paid plans start at $25/year for higher limits, larger files, and priority processing.

Verdict

Choose ImageResizer Studio if you need to resize images by specific dimensions or physical units, want browser-only privacy, need HEIC support, or want unlimited batch processing — all completely free.

Choose TinyPNGif your primary goal is maximum compression quality for PNG and JPEG files, and you don't need resize-by-dimension or unit conversion. Be aware that your files are uploaded to their servers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ImageResizer Studio better than TinyPNG?

It depends on your needs. ImageResizer Studio offers browser-based processing (no upload), 5 unit types (px, %, in, cm, mm), and HEIC support. TinyPNG excels at lossy compression for PNG and JPEG with excellent quality preservation. Choose ImageResizer Studio for resize + units + privacy; choose TinyPNG for pure compression quality.

Is TinyPNG free to use?

TinyPNG has a free tier that allows up to 20 images per upload with a 5 MB file size limit for PNG and 15 MB for JPEG. Paid plans start at $25/year and allow up to 5,000 images per upload with no file size limit. ImageResizer Studio is completely free with no limits.

Does TinyPNG support HEIC images?

No, TinyPNG does not support HEIC/HEIF (Apple's photo format). ImageResizer Studio supports HEIC for resize, crop, and format conversion.
